ABOUT ME!

My name is Luiza Small, I am a owner of a dog training school in Ripley, Ontario called “Small K-9 School.” Although I have been around for
about 5 years I would like to better introduce my self (through my web site)  and better explain what I am offering to the local and
 surrounding community.

I am a young woman who is very intrigued and passionate about working with, fostering, re-training and re-homing dogs. I own four
different breed dogs, all of which have been adopted by me to be given a better home and life. It was through my dogs that I understood
that people need  to be better educated on how to choose, live with and provide for their animals. This got me thinking about starting
a school to teach just that.

I began by enrolling into different (2 ) dog behaviour and training courses and have received certification with ICS Canada in Dog Obedience Trainer
and Instructor and since then have not stopped continuing to further educate my self in dog obedience training and behaviour. I have successfully
finished a  Veterinarian Assistance home study course with Ashworth college with Honers .
Spending time with  other dog trainers, dog owners and their families, I am find myself constantly learning, improving and advancing
my teaching techniques.

Now I have approximately eleven years experience of working with dogs and their owners and 5 years (this May 2011) as a business.

Through self motivated education, dog behaviour and training courses, ICS Canada and currently through Ashworth College I can
confidently teach the following to my clients through Small K-9 school:

- social behaviour and communication
- understanding and solving behavioural problems
- how dogs learn, trick training and obedience
- training through play
- testing and selecting dogs
- basic vet issues
- how to find the proper assistance
- basic nutrition
- and much, much more

Training classes are offered at convenient times during the week and weekend and at reasonable prices. Classes run every month, with no more
than six dogs per class.  This allows me to concentrate more on individual dogs and their owners. My schedule is flexible, permitting
me to accommodate my clients with at home consultations and training; if they are unable to make it to the regular sessions.
I plan to have students from the local high school assist me for their required community service hours as my business grows. I also enjoy encouraging
my clients to bring their children to my classes, giving the children opportunities to learn how to properly interact and control their dogs.

Here are some other programs I am offering other then Obedience Training:

- Children and dog safety, I am a proud member and a licensed presenter of “Doggonesafe” as well as a creator of “The Kid and I” which is a
very thorough presentation of basic dog body language with colourful pictures and simple wording, so even the young children can understand.

- Consultation on getting the right dog for you as well as selection of breeders, breeds and other useful information for anyone that is thinking about
adding another four legged friend to their home.

- Dogxercise- a great and fun way for people to get out with their four legged friends and have a fun time hiking, playing games,
socializing with other people, dogs, and children, as well as just being a dog.

- I have also been re-training and re-homing dogs- since Christmas 2010, so far I have re-homed close to 150 dogs, and have full confidence
that this will be the dogs’ forever home.

If you have any questions or suggestions please do not hesitate to contact me.
I do not do " 30
minutes free consolations " but if you don't like what I have to say then it is all "FREE". My goal is to keep dogs in their homes,
not a quick profit, this is why I am now a not for profit small business.
The Rescue part of my business is funded by the other services and programs I offer, as well as donations.
At this time I decided against applying for charitable status.
